PROJECT: Western Cemetery Environment Initiative

Community and environment Impact

Objective: Preserve heritage and enhance green spaces In 2018, a group of enthusiasts established Sauvegarde du Cimetière de l’Ouest Ltée (SCO), a non-profit organisation dedicated to preserving the historic Western Cemetery in Cassis, Port Louis – the oldest functioning cemetery in Mauritius. SCO partnered with the Municipal Council of Port Louis and set up an office with a secretariat and gardener to manage ongoing conservation efforts. Projects focused on clearing and maintaining buffer areas, routine vegetation control within the cemetery, planting and nurturing shrubs and palms, and training guides to manage tours and visitor engagement. Through these efforts, the initiative safeguards a historic site while creating a more welcoming and environmentally conscious space for the community.

PROJECT: Beach Cleaning Activity – Poste La Fayette

Objective: Promote environmental stewardship In June 2025, Cim Finance employees actively participated in a beach-cleaning initiative at Poste Lafayette Beach, in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment, to mark World Environment Day. Through hands-on volunteering, employees contributed to a cleaner coastal environment while raising awareness about environmental stewardship and the importance of protecting Mauritius’ natural spaces.
